Hobart is the leading Brand in the commercial mixing industry. Since 1914 Hobart has been producing planetary mixers designed specifically with customers' needs in mind. Planetary mixers have a fixed bowl and the agitator moves like a planet around the inside of the bowl. These are a good choice for bakeries, pizzerias and general-purpose kitchens.

We will cover the 2 planetary mixer options offered; the Hobart Legacy + Series and Centerline by Hobart. We will cover each series individually, how they compare and differ as well as outline the competitors and how we win.

The Hobart Legacy series has proved time and time again to be the industry leader in maximum heavy-duty mixing. Built to last, the Legacy mixers feature Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) technology – our industry exclusive – to make sure the job gets done every time. This series was designed to leave a legacy in kitchens and bakeries for years to come. We take pride in the features and benefits the Legacy series offers.

The Legacy series offers a variety of sizes; one for every kitchen. With these varying sizes come some differentiations. Our countertop mixers include the 12-quart and 20-quart models. Our floor models include the 30, 40 60 and 80-quart models.

Key Attributes and Benefits

Maximum heavy-duty means a mixer can operate continuously, batch after batch, for more than 4 hours/day. Legacy mixers last up to 3 times the life of traditional gear-driven machines. Variable Frequency Drive (VFDadvantage) technology is what makes this maximum heavy-duty mixer perform.

Planetary mixers need the proper attachments and agitators for optimal performance. Whips, beaters, dough hooks, whisks and pastry knives are common kinds of agitators used for bowl mixing.

Spiral

Creating great dough is both an art and a science. Our customers deliver the artistry - we deliver the science. The rotations of the dough hook and bowl in the Hobart spiral mixers are precisely engineered to quickly and gently knead dough. This lowers friction and minimizes temperature increases to promote ideal leavening - even with small batches of dough and with doughs having up to a 90% absorption ratio.

Spiral mixers take up a significant footprint in a kitchen.  Space should always be a consideration when planning for a spiral mixer.  Capacity is measured by maximum weight of dough. Please refer to our capacity chart to confirm needed size (180 - 440lbs).
